The hallway has many practical functions. We often use it to store shoes and clothes. This is where we last check that we have remembered everything before going out – and perhaps we also have a look at the clock before leaving the house. This is where we leave our coats, gloves, hats, keys, bags etc, when we come home. In other words, the hallway is where we say hello and goodbye.
